Better Place Portraiture is an ongoing collaborative project with artists Darren Banks and, on occasion, Christopher Rollen

"British artists Flora Whiteley & Darren Banks use art to communicate with the paranormal by presenting pet portraits from beyond the grave. The questionability of hoax and authenticity are played with during a seance in which Whiteley enters a trance to draw pets who have passed on. Within the gallery context the drawings are not simply a tool for communication from the dead but works in their own right, questioning the validity of such practices and its relationship to performance." Catherine Hemelryk

This project has involved a range of events and performances, including exhibitions in Belgrade, Newcastle, Middlesborough and the Barbican in London.
